Davran Jewellery is a family run jewellery manufacturer based in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter. The company’s founders David and Frances Grose met working at Pellow’s in the 60’s, soon got married and then began running their own jewellery manufacturers from home. A year later, in 1976, they rented a workshop in the Jewellery Quarter, an area which has remained the company’s base ever since.
By 1978, David’s sons Alan and Andrew began working on the bench to learn the trade, skills that they still use as company directors. Davran became a limited company in 1984 when our current sales director, John van Lierop, joined as a partner.
Around 1994, we acquired Beechfield Chains which was the origin for our striking snake bangle, which was designed after the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. Our snakes are our most time-consuming piece of jewellery due to the unique methods of manufacture, followed by intricate hand engraving and ruby set eyes.
Three years later, we incorporated Dyson & Hussey handmade lockets and we are now one of the last few handmade locket makers in the UK – our lockets are incomparable in quality and range.
High quality, heritage jewellery has and will always be our priority, with each piece hand polished and finished. Having our own factory means that 90% of our products are made in-house and by hand, crafted by our expert goldsmiths with decades of experience.
